You wish your parents forced you to take music lessons when you were young....so why don't you do it now...what's stopping you?
Those words came from my 16 year old son. He is right. I begin my cello lessons next week.
You see, my son has been taking violin and then cello lessons for over 8 years. I drove him to every lesson. I even sat in on all his lessons until the teachers kindly kicked me out. And he is sick of it all now. He has other interests...art, girls, video games....and he reluctantly fits in his grade 10 studies, his cello lessons and senior orchestra...... but he is sick of it. He does it for me and now he's old enough and bold enough to tell me.
So guess what...I'm hooked on cello...on music and I'm 52 years old!!
I started poking around the internet and found Biana Kovic ...a cellist who "shatters the misconceptions about adult learning" ...by teaching old folks to play the cello. She's documented the process of teaching cello to an 89 year old woman over 5 weeks! I emailed her and received an encouraging response.
I have my first cello lesson next week (no need of my son's cello sitting idle during the day!)
